Why I hate the Big Ten Network IV

I was planning on writing a post today about how much I loved the Big Ten Network because after a year of dreaming about it, I woke up the other morning to find it on my Verizon Fios channel line up.

However, with friends gathering at my house to watch the game, I dial in the new HD T.V. to find Purdue /MU in place of my beloved Buckeyes. Yes, I live in MD, one of the few states in throughout the country not to get the Ohio State game.

Even worse, in the past, even if the game was not available on my local cable, I could always find a sports bar to watch the Buckeyes play. Today however, it looks like I’m screwed. I may be destined to listen to the online broadcast.

Fall is the lonliest time for a Buckeye ex-pat.

Get used to it. How do you think we PSU fans feel being forced to watch the Buckeyes look terrible against a Sun Belt team?

Yeah, but I could understand if I got Penn State in MD. We got Purdue/Central Michigan.

My boyfriend and I just moved to Philadelphia from Central Ohio and have run into the same problem twice… but don’t give up so easily my friend! We have found a couple different bars here in Philly that have somehow managed to subscribe to both the Big Ten for here and the Big Ten that shows OSU. The bar we go to has pretty much every game playing at the same time! Wish I could figure out how to subscribe to Ohio’s Big Ten at my apartment. Anyway, how we found it is we looked for a Philadelphia Buckeyes Club, and they knew what was what – but I bet if you called up a bunch of your local sports-themed bars and asked them, one of them would be bound to subscribe to all the networks and get osu and penn or whoever at the same time.
good luck!

From what I understand, the BTN offers three channels on some services. If you’ve got the Dish, you get all three. However, since I have FIOS, at the moment I only get one channel.

I’m not ready to make the switch to Dish but I’m getting much closer.
