UM’s Manning out for Penn State Game – Carr faces big test

by Annapolisbuckeye on October 12, 2006

It appears that Wolverine wide receiver Mario Manning will be out for at least the Penn State game due to a knee injury. According to ESPN.com, Manning injured his knee in last weekend’s game against Michigan State.

We will see this weekend how much of a championship coach Lloyd really is. We will see this weekend if Carr is really a John Cooper in disguise.

As Buckeye fans remember, all too painfully, Cooper’s biggest problem was that if the team faced any adversity, if they fell behind at any point in the game, the game was over. Cooper did not have the ability to prepare his team mentally for the big game or the come from behind win.

I think that Lloyd Cooper…I mean Carr has this same problem and this weekend will be an early test. UM is not a one man team and they should do fine without Manning. The question will become, can Carr keep both his and his players heads together.

No question Penn State will be bent and Penn will be playing at home (dare I say “Whiteout”). UM was the stopper in their national championship hopes. However, this is not last year’s Penn State team and UM should be able to handle them Manning or no Manning.

Hence the test for Carr. Personally, I don’t have a lot of confidence in him and if you have been following my earlier posts, you know I want UM beat the snot out of everybody. I want the joy of watching the Buckeye’s dash yet another UM season sending the Buckeye’s into the BCS Championship ranked an undisputed #1. I firmly believe that we should see a #1 OSU vs #2 UM come Nov. 18. My biggest fear is that UM won’t hold up their end of the deal.

They’ve got the talent. The questions remains, can Carr get them up to #2 mentally.
