Tuesday Morning Quick Hits

by Annapolisbuckeye on September 15, 2009

No long post this morning. Just a couple points of interest:

ESPN.com’s Adam Rittenberg ranked Michigan over Ohio State in his Big Ten Power Rankings. .
I have to be honest here, I don’t read Rittenberg on a regular basis and now I know why. To use the term “Power Rankings” and place the Wolverines over the Buckeyes is almost comical. What did they prove against Notre Dame, that Charlie Weis has as much trouble managing the clock as Coach Tressel? Yes, the fact that we didn’t finish off USC does mean something but neither Penn State (who he ranks 1) or UM have been truly tested against a top ranked opponent yet this year.

Don’t believe me, watch what happens when Notre Dame plays Navy.

Time to Pick it Up an Move On
I just discovered former Ohio State Coach Earl Bruce’s blog this morning and I like it. He’s got a great post today about how the Bucks need to scoop themselves up and get ready for Toledo. They’ve been racking up some points and if the Buckeyes get hung up on last weekend’s loss, well, just get it together will you?

I no longer live in Columbus so I don’t get to hear Coach Bruce on a regular basis. However, as we sat in the car for nearly two hours trying to get out of campus after the game Sat., we listened to Coach Bruce’s post game discussion on 610 AM. Like the rest of us, you could hear his frustration coming through but he did help put things in perspective.

USC quarterback Matt Barkley may be out with an injured shoulder
Apparently he took a good hit in the third quarter. Apparently Coach Carroll was ready to put in Aaron Corp but Barkley finished the game. USC is monitoring his progress but as Carroll says, this may be Corps opportunity to get back in the game.

Press Luncheon today at 12:00
Join in for yet another press roundup where Coach Tressel pretends that this loss didn’t hurt. Watch it live at 12:00 here.

What’s done is done. Time to stop looking back and look forward. Toledo is a good team and that’s the focus this week. I will say that USC realizes they were in a game on Saturday (enough said). Go Bucks!! OH-IO!!
