Tressel logs 200th win as Buckeyes defeat Washington

Ohio State coach Jim Tressel logged his 200th carrier win as the Buckeyes beat Washington 33 to 14. Their were a lot of questions up in the air at the start of this game and it wasn’t until the second half that Ohio State started to respond.

While the Buckeye defense looked good during the first two games of the season, the Ohio State offense has struggled and many thought the trip to Washington would be too much for the Bucks. After a weak first half, The Ohio State made a statement coming out strong after halftime.

According to the Associated Press, Ohio State quarterback Todd Boeckman really let the team have it in the locker room. The AP quoted Beockman as saying, “You could see it in their eyes [that they needed it].”

Whatever Boeckman said must have worked because the buckeyes came to life scoring another 30 points (including a touchdown as time ran out) during the second half.

All though slow to start, we can finally see this Buckeye team starting to gel. During the second half, one of the ESPN commentators even mentioned that this team is developing almost every play. It is also good to see Beockman stepping into the leadership role he needs to fill. The offensive line gave him much better protection now Beockman just needs to work on his decision making as he through a couple of passes that probably should have been intercepted. With another week of practice and improvement like we saw last week, the Bucks should shape up nicely.

With the win, Coach Tressel logs his 200th career victory and the Buckeyes have now won 22 of the last 23 games.
