Seemed like a good idea at the time.
I suppose I should let up a little on the Penn State fans. It’s been pointed out to me that they really don’t have a big rival and they sort of look up to Ohio State as the team to knock off.
That said, the Penn State marketing Association thought they had a great idea when they selected the design above as their “white out” t-shirts. And why wouldn’t they? It’s such a powerful design…what with the Pennsylvania quarterback they couldn’t get being consoled by the cute kitten and all.
Apparently, it was a tough choice as there were a number of designs submitted. One however, stood out above the rest. (If this is the best they can get, sort of makes you wonder.) Apparently they felt that last year’s “Bust a Nut” design were just a little too “edgy”
But the story doesn’t end there. Apparently, the power’s that be at Penn State felt that the shirt just didn’t represent the university well and canceled the sale scheduled for Friday.
Along with the ban came an apology:
“We did not intend for this shirt to offend Terrelle Pryor, The Ohio State University, or Penn State Athletics, and we apologize for any offense it caused,” Dan Sturman, PSMA’s chief executive director, said in a statement today.
“We share in Penn State’s commitment to a strong tradition of sportsmanship, honor, and integrity, and understand that this shirt design does not align with these values. The Penn State Marketing Association is recalling all shirts and will dispose of them accordingly.”
As a Buckeye, I think we all owe a huge debt to Mr. Sturman. If Pryor had seen one of those shirts…well…it might have hurt his feelings. He might not have been able to play. (As an FYI, if you’ve still got those shirts after a Buckeye victory Sat. let me know. I’m sure I can put them to good use.)
I guess I should give credit where credit is due. I’m with him on the sportsmanship, honor and integrity thing. They are a campus group and represent the university.
It’s just that when you’re used to shirts like this…

I don’t think you can buy these through the Ohio State Marketing Association though.
