UPDATE: This is not the original post that appeared in this space. The original post was a typical blogger’s attack on Rich Rodriguez — an attack leveled only because it’s Michigan. I was soon surprised to see that the post received a good deal of traffic and attention in a very short period of time. I wasn’t all that happy with the post to begin with and don’t think it deserved the attention it was getting.
So, for the first time in my four seasons of blogging, I’m going to radically change if not take down this post. This isn’t my fight. It’s opening week of football season. We should be celebrating, not dwelling on problems which are not ours. Chalk it up to preseason training.
With that, I will leave you with the video and links and let you make up your own mind on the Rich Rodriguez story.
Suspected NCAA violations reported in Saturday’s Detroit Freepress .

A former UM players speaks out
Post discussing idea that UM Alumni has turned on him
Update This just keeps getting worse and worse. The Columbus Dispatch is reporting today that Rodriguez owes $3.9 million for a struggling condo project in Virginia and is being sued in federal court. Bets on his making it through the season?

We are going to beat you this year.
It’s been said that commenting on the internet is like running in the…you all know how that ends. So here I go:
I’m sad that this would even be posted.
First, despite the possible play on…letters? Get the name right. No one wants to hear the ramblings of a drunk.
I agree, Rich-Rod’s display is petty at best. And that press conference has Bo rolling in his grave. I’m extatic about that.
However, “Annapolis,” you’re not helping my cause by putting this out there the way you did.
If you live outside the State of Ohio, as I’m guessing you do, you know that we have to give the explanations of everything from THE Ohio State University to explaining away posts like this.
My expectation would be that you, being in Annapolis [I would guess], would have something to say about the positive Naval Academy coming into the ‘Shoe. Instead, I’m given another thing to explain away.
I’m not offering anything substantial, but I’m also refusing to put my name behind a post that says, “No, I have never been anywhere near a Michigan football practice. Heck, other then once bursting into a room full of Michigan football players engaged in a highly compromising activity…”
Thanks for your post. Piss off.
XOXO,

Rob,
Your right. I’m watching the attention and traffic that this post is receiving in the very short time it has been up and to be honest, it is a little more then I expected.
And while I enjoy taking a stab at the Michigan program whenever I get the chance, this one just doesn’t seem right.
So I’m not sure exactly what your “cause” is but whoever you are, I don’t want to put you in a position to explain away my comments.
I’m up late tonight about to make upgrades to the blog and in the process, I may do something that I have never done in three years with the Buckeye Blog – take down a post.
Yep, I’ve got a pile of posts on the upcoming Navy game I’ve been trying to get to. I’m afraid I got distracted with this story.
So hopefully, you’ll get a chance to see this response. I’m thinking that the post won’t be here in the morning. There are better ways to fill this space.
