Ohio State vs. USC Point Spread; Vegas Giving SC 10.5

You asked for it so here it is. As of Wed afternoon, SC is favored by 10.5 points.

I would think the bookies would give USC 10 points just because of the home field advantage. However, I’d take the Buckeyes to beat the spread. If USC does win, it will be a close game. The early season game is good for the Buckeyes because unlike the last two BCS games, they don’t have 6-8 weeks of sitting around waiting for their turn to play. Tressel also has a tendency to over prepare for these big games and has trouble breaking from the game plan when things don’t work.

There is no question this will be a tough game but remember, bookies base their spread on public perception. USC gets more than it’s fair share of hype from ESPN et all and last weekend’s showing against OU is having an effect. Don’t for a minute place your bets based on what you saw last weekend.

Update: By Thursday evening, the spread was up a half point to 11. I would think the ever changing news on Beanie would be worth more than 1/2 a point.
