Ohio State Buckeyes; Not rebuilt, reloaded

by Annapolisbuckeye on September 1, 2007

I rise this morning knowing that the burdens of old can be cast aside and replaced by dreams of glories to come for on this day, the 2007 season is underway. The sun will rise this morning casting dew laden shadows upon the rows of recreational vehicles arriving to take their position for the proper pregame activities. The heat of a portable charcoal grill will cast its warmth over a shivering coed as she deftly cast yet another bean bag at the slanted target we so lovingly refer to as cornhole. Food will be eaten, drinks will be imbibed, the cycle begins again.

Later, four, yes four, Script Ohios will baptize the field of honor, the bells of Orton hall will chime and the golden tones of Carmen Ohio will rise through the stands of the Shoe. It is at this point that those young men, men who were recently known as boys, will walk onto that hallowed ground, many for the first time, and begin the quest to take what is rightfully theirs.

And how do we know it is rightfully theirs? We know because as James Thurber once said, “They have that Ohio look in their eyes.”

Go Buckeyes, bring on the 2007 season!
