Damn the Start of the Season, They’re Unveiling The Uniforms Wednesday!

With the way we've been drubbing Michigan lately, at least the uniforms give us something to keep it interesting.

Sure, we could be discussing the continued development of Terrelle Pryor or how the Ohio State defense will deal with Santral Henderson (rumor has it Henderson’s got his work cut out for him – more on that later) but there are more pressing issues at hand. Nike will be unveiling this year’s version of the “Nike Pro Combat System of Dress,” just one week from today. Of course I’m sure you remember how we all waited with baited breath for the unveiling of last year’s throwback uniforms.

This year, out of nothing more than a sense of duty to you my loyal reader (and a sponsored press junket), I’m going to personally travel to NYC to join Nike and a group of  “former well-known players, university personnel and a special Ohio State guest” as they unveil this year’s uniform. No word yet which game (or games) we’ll see the uniforms nor do we know if this year’s uniform will also pay tribute to a past Ohio State squad.

The fact that Michigan left Nike for Adidas and the most lucrative contract in college football lead one to think that once again, we’ll see the uniforms against Michigan. However, Miami is also one of the ten schools selected to wear the Nike uniforms. What an advertising op that would be.

I wonder what a Miami “throwback” uniform might look like. Maybe camo and a bling necklace?

Update: When I spoke to the p.r. rep from Nike yesterday, she didn’t offer any information regarding which games the Buckeyes will wear the uniforms telling me I’d have to wait for the press conference Wed. I just noticed that the Ohio State website has a press release from Nike announcing that they will wear the uniforms for the Michigan game.
