It’s Official, Nebraska Applying to Big 10

by Annapolisbuckeye on June 11, 2010

It’s official. The Nebraska Board of Regents just passed a motion to apply for membership in the Big Ten. Now, it’s up to the Big 10 to accept the application. Unless Notre Dame has some sort of amazing pull on the Big Ten, let’s welcome the Corn Huskers.

Motion passed unanimously.

(I’m watching the meeting on live feed so no outside sources to link to at the moment. You’ll have to take my word for it)

Update
They’re taking a few questions now but press conference scheduled for 5:00 p.m. (Nebraska time)

Update
It’s official. Big Ten has accepted Nebraska to the division. Nebraska begins Big Ten play 2011 season.

TIB,

I saw this story earlier. However this video contradicts the story by saying Freshmen who have started summer school would be bound by their letter of intent. And if Mike Garrett doesn’t sign release letters in the event that an upper classmen wants to leave, there is a lawyer just waiting to file that law suit…

And what I should have said in my previous post was that if an incoming recruit has NOT started summer school, can he request his release now? According to Feldman, that would seem to be the case.

So from Delaney’s tone, the Big 10 won’t pursue others from the Big 12???

“Delany declined to discuss the likelihood of specific schools being invited. But Big 12 Commissioner Dan Beebe said Friday that Delany told him that Nebraska was the only Big 12 team the Big Ten was considering”.

It looks like the Pac10 will probably turn into Pac16 ……. still waiting on Texas A&M to quit slow dancing with the SEC though. The big question that I have is ……. Why doesn’t anyone want Kansas. I understand that basketball doesn’t make quite as much money as football …..but ……. seriously …… this is Kansas. They are a powerhouse basketball team. Somebody needs to pick them up.
