The Buckeye Blog Presents Fantasy College Football; 1 Week, Cash Prizes

by Annapolisbuckeye on October 25, 2011

It’s contest time again. This time we’ve got fantasy college football and cash prizes. The Buckeye Blog is partnering with Draftstreet.com to bring you free College Fantasy Football. The NCAA may frown on paying college athletes but you’ve got $100,000 to spend on your fantasy college football team. And unlike season-long fantasy football games, we’ve got a one day game. Draft your team and whoever has the best results by the end of Saturday wins. The best part, not only do you get free fantasy football, we’re giving away $100 in prizes.

So here’s how it works. Each player player has been assigned a salary and you’ve got $100,000 to spend on your fantasy football team. Obviously, you can’t get Cam Newton for that price (maybe his father) but for $17,302, you could get Denard Robinson. Seeing as how he’s going up against Purdue this weekend, I’d personally look for a better deal but for you Michigan fans, have at it.

Fantasy College FootballYou’ve got to put together a college fantasy roster that includes two quarter backs, two wide receivers, three running backs, a tight end and two flex positions while staying under the $100,000 limit. Flex positions can be any position. Points are scored based on your players actual performance on Saturday in each of the categories pictured to the right. You can tweak, refine, analyze or randomly select your team up until kick off time on Saturday.

To enter, follow this link to Draftstreet.com and complete the registration process. Once registered you will get a pop up directing you to The Buckeye Blog league*. Top five at the end of the day will split the prize with a top prize of $65. This is a test run and if all goes well we will hopefully do more contests with bigger prizes.

This contest is open to all college football fans (not just Buckeye fans) so tell your friends. The more we get the better. Besides, the more people you beat, the more street cred earned when it comes to talking smack.

Speaking of Smack
We had a five-way tie in this week’s College Football Pick’em with “Bobby Hoying for President” winning the tie breaker. Best part about it is that we all took a chunk out of Pryor’s Car’s sizable lead. Gulfportcarl pulled to within four points of TPB and Bobby Hoying for Pres and your’s truly are nipping at his tails only five points behind. Another bad week for TPB and we’ve got a game.

*(Unfortunately, there are a couple of states that do not allow fantasy football games. If you are in one of those states, you will get a notice that you can only play in the free games and are not eligible to play in The Buckeye Blog’s prize game.)

TPB and I were talking on FB and I suggested after beating me by one point (and me beating AB in the tie breaker) October 15, he should call an offshore sports betting shop. Here is a bit of that discussion.

TPB Report -9:12 am I will be keeping track of my pick em domination today though.
Alan Report · 9:13am I don’t feel much of a dominating weekend. YOu should find a sports book and throw down $100..
TPB Report · 9:15amI should.I really should..
Alan Report · 9:15am we didn’t start out strong yesterday (Thursday night)

He then proceeded to finish last on Saturday in Pick Em. The only people he beat were the people who didn’t pick. I can only hope he didn’t heed my advice and if he did, I would like to make a motion to give the proceeds of the “Bauserman Tattoo Fund” to him?

Otherwise, I’m going to hell… Sorry TPB.

I heard the Bauserman Tat Fund was up to – $38,519 – already. This could help TPB pay off his college debt.

Just checked in to the score on the fantasy game. Drake Dunsmore, TE at Northwestern, had brought jrock6 more than 42 points and the game isn’t even over yet. Salary – $4,423. Talk about a sleeper!!

Meanwhile, I’m watching Tyler Wilson, QB Arkansas, drive my score backward. I should know better than to pick a Razorback. You would think he’d put up some yards against Vanderbilt but that just goes to show you how hard it is to win in the SEC. Just an amazing division.

Of course, I didn’t take anyone from Nebraska thinking Michigan State would shut them down. Shows once again just how much the Big Ten sucks.
