Baring some sort of tragedy, my third week prediction of a #1 OSU/#2 UM matchup is all but a lock–regardless of what the BCS rankings say. Yes, USC is officially number #2 but rehab takes time and while the AP and ESPN voters are coming around, USA today and (whatever it is that decides) the BCS still have a few steps to go.

I think both are on Step 8, ” Make a list of all persons harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all.” We should see all moving to week #9, “Making direct amends wherever possible” before the season is over.

USC continues to barely get out of close games against unranked teams but they still face ND and Cal and unless something big happens in Southern California, one of the two will beat them. If I was a West Virginia fan, I’d be a little ticked by know. At least when they beat an unranked team, the unranked team knows they’ve been beat.

Florida and Auburn politely stepped out of the way the past two weekends paving the way for an earth shaking showdown in Nov. Whoever comes out alive will have beaten either a #2 and a #2/3 team or a #1 and a #2 team during regular season play.

Let’s face it, the true National Championship game will take place Nov. 18 in Columbus. The BCS game in Phoenix will be little more of an afterthought.

As for Ohio State, there is only one team in all of college football that concerns me at this point and that team is Michigan. As all Ohio State/Michigan fans know, there is only one game that counts. One game that decides a winning or losing season. Even in an off year, a lower ranked team has a chance of winning.

When this game decides who plays in the National Championship, stand back.

Ah yes…proving once again that _ichigan has the most annoying fight song in all of college football.

Funny, however, I’ve never heard those words before. The version I’ve always known ends with:

“The cesspool of the West”

(I won’t print the rest…this being a family site and all>)
