Not a lot to say here. Last weekend USC was favored over Stanford by 40+ points and lost. I don’t think that will happen here. The Buckeyes have a lot more character than that.
As for the spread? I guess it all depends on when the second string comes in to play and if Tressel can hold them back. The biggest problem will be for Kent State to get on the board. I don’t think the offense will go crazy or anything but if the defense plays anything like it did against Purdue, Kent State will be lucky to make it across the 50.
However, the Buckeyes need to make sure they don’t sleepwalk through the game. Yes, it is a mismatch. Yes, a number of schools have been hurt by games like this this year. However, with Michigan State in two weekends, this sets up well. Michigan State is not a game that will force us to look past Kent. Likewise, MSU will be a good buildup as we get ready to head to Penn State the weekend after.
As for the spread? I hate spreads like this. You are no longer betting on the quality of the win but the personality of the coach or how bad the second string players want to impress. With that in mind, I may look to the over under which I haven’t seen yet.
