Braxton or Guiton? Start ’em Both

The Ohio State Buckeyes have listed both Braxton Miller and Kenny Guiton for Saturday night’s game against Wisconsin. Although Coach Urban Meyer is still vague on who will get the opening snaps, yesterday’s depth chart for Wisconsin lists Braxton Miller OR Kenny Guiton in the starting quarterback position.

I do like the idea of mixing it and keeping them confused. Would also like evidence that Miller has improved as much as we’ve heard he has.

With the way Guiton has stepped up, who would you rather see taking the snaps and why?

Start Kenny G. and bring Braxton in if the first two drives fail. Bring Braxton in after that and see how he performs. If he isn’t up to game speed or rusty, put him on the sidelines and let him watch what is developing. At the end of the day, barring injury, I thing Braxton will be on the field at the end of the game.

  2. Dave Smith says

Little doubt now that Braxton was up to game speed. I do support getting them both on the field.. even at the same time, but I’d like to see that little wrinkle held back for a later game.. possible the Big 10 Championship game or a big bowl game.

I am not a big fan of “platooning QB’s”. It usually hurts the confidence of both players and makes the coach look indecisive. I believe in the old rule that you don’t lose your job to injury. You want your players to perform fearlessly and not have to worry about losing their position. Meyer is opening up the door that tells his players to play tepidly and with caution. Keep in mind …… Braxton was in the Heisman conversation before he went down.
