A Florida fan responds; Buckeyes have pushed him to the brink

by Annapolisbuckeye on January 7, 2007

I recently received the following email from a Gators fan. Apparently my recent post in CSTV.com’s “Battle of the Blogs” pushed him over the edge.

This is without question, the best response to anything I’ve ever written. Naturally, I’m still trying to make sense of it. Let me know if you can figure it all out.

I haven’t seen reporting so balanced since Bill O’Reilly covered the democratic convention.

So, the Rose Bowl, until a few years ago had a tie in with the PAC-10 vs Big-10. Short of the Gators jumping into the Big-11 (which admittedly would’ve led to many undefeated seasons and confused people in Oklahoma what with two “Big” football conferences having 12 teams in them), Florida could NEVER have made the Rose Bowl, per Rose Bowl rules. So, you are correct; Florida has never made a Rose Bowl appearance. In the same fashion, Ohio State has never played in the Sugar Bowl. Hey, did you realize that Guinness never won the best American Beer Contest.

When Acorns get tired of quoting Keith “Grandiddy” Jackson and Doctor Phil, you’ll realize that Florida has a great football program. I’ll quote someone you may have heard of, Kirk Herbstreit, at his first covering of the Florida-FSU game: “I thought Ohio State – Michigan was a rivalry game, but my friends told me today that they will be turning in their Buckeye season tickets to watch more of these Gators.” -1991. When Wuerfel says that about Ohio State, I’ll start appreciating Keith Jackson and Doctor Phil. Until then – you keep quoting. Can we at least go to some Woody Hayes quotes? Those are much more interesting. (Or do you have more “Lloyd Cooper” quotes to share?)

Keep pushing Buckeye fans. By game time, they will be an absolute wreck.

Yeah, he’s right. Ohio State has never been to the Sugar Bowl. Except for those three times we’ve been to the Sugar Bowl.
